Fleet Towing Services
The city’s Fleet Management division provides maintenance services for vehicles and special equipment for city departments and Mecklenburg County. Towing services are needed to transport and recover disabled vehicles and special equipment, provide support to the city as needed during inclement weather, and assist during special events. Services will be provided for various types of vehicles and equipment, including, but not limited to: sedans, SUVs, medium – and heavy-duty trucks, fire apparatus, police cars, and construction equipment.

Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) Replacement Phase 3
This project will upgrade the existing meter reading system to a self-reporting network and replace end of life residential meters. Existing communication endpoints not compatible with the network selected will be replaced. Most residential meters will be replaced; those meters not replaced will require a replacement register compatible with the new endpoints. Commercial meters will receive replacement registers or be replace, depending on compatibility with the selected network solution. The communication network, hourly interval data and customer access portal will improve customer experience, increase billing efficiency and accuracy, reduce system losses and operational expenses, and improve system monitoring and planning.

Charlotte Water Traffic Control Services
Charlotte Water will be requesting proposals from experienced and qualified companies to provide scheduled traffic control services, as a result of planned/scheduled water and sanitary sewer construction performed by Charlotte Water and in the event of an unplanned/unscheduled immediate emergency within the area, such as a water main break or an emergency resulting from a natural disaster.
Maintenance of water and sanitary sewer infrastructure requires safely guiding traffic through active work zones, lane closures, and other situations while protecting Charlotte Water staff, residents, and equipment during the work activity or closure. This includes the placement and removal of traffic control devices by qualified personnel, as well as flagging of traffic. Services shall include the provision of all materials, equipment, and labor necessary to safely route traffic through Charlotte Water work zones or event areas.
Companies will be required, at the minimum, to perform the following:

Charlotte Water will be requesting proposals from experienced and qualified companies to provide various tree and vegetation removal services, as a result of water and sanitary sewer construction performed by Charlotte Water, as an after-hour/holiday/weekend emergency service, and in the event of an immediate disaster emergency within the area, such as a natural disaster.

Project consists of removing a gabion wall and replacing it with a new segmental block wall. Minimal stream impacts will be made only to install wall. Partial storm system in ROW will be removed and replaced with no outfall impacts.

Leak Detection Services
Charlotte Water is seeking to contract with a qualified firm to provide professional water leak detection services across its residential service lines and public water mains. The selected vendor will be expected to utilize specialized tools and systems capable of detecting underground leaks and identifying areas of current loss with precision and minimal disruption. Services may involve advanced acoustic, chemical, and pressure-based testing methods, along with the use of pipeline diagnostic equipment to support field verification. This work will contribute to Charlotte Water’s ongoing efforts to reduce non-revenue water, improve infrastructure reliability, and proactively manage aging assets.
The purpose and need for this construction project is to improve the storm drainage infrastructure (i.e. pipe systems and culverts) to reduce flooding and to enhance degraded stream reaches to reduce erosion and improve water quality. This project is under review. Location and project details will be provided after the review is complete.
