This contract is for guardrail installation and repairs on various roads within the City of Charlotte, as needed and upon request. The Engineer and or designee will identify locations requiring guardrail maintenance and repair throughout the city. The extent of maintenance and repair will vary based on the amount of existing or damaged guardrail along each route, and bidders should consider this when submitting a bid.

During maintenance and/or repair of damaged sections of guardrail, the contractor shall replace all needed components of guardrail as directed by the Engineer and stabilize existing guardrail and appurtenances at the site.

All work and materials shall be in accordance with the provisions of the General Guidelines of this contract, the Project Special Provisions, the North Carolina Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures, January 2024, the North Carolina Department of Transportation Roadway Standard Drawings, January 2024, and the current edition of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

This project is located on Sardis Oaks Road between Sardis Road North and Rock Point Road. The existing drainage system consists of pipe under city-maintained roads. The improvements include pipe system upgrades.

Description of the projects

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is seeking proposals for the development, design, build and operation of a 4,479 square foot space within the Airport’s new Concourse A Expansion project. The Expansion of Concourse A includes 10 gates and associated support space, two retail concessions, one sit-down F&B location, and one “to-go” concessionaire. (Additional information on why you should be a part of CLT, is detailed in  Exhibit C.) The selected proposer will be responsible for providing an innovative design solution that aligns with the airport’s brand and aesthetic while maximizing the utility of the designated space.

This project involves significant airfield civil construction, including approximately 147,400 CY of unclassified excavation, 294,000 CY of embankment placement, and 239,000 SY of pavement removal. Key scopes include erosion and sediment control, installation of storm drainage systems (15″–66″ RCP), over 186,000 SY of PCC airfield paving, 75,500 TN of asphalt, 27,500 LF of electrical conduit, as well as airfield lighting, signage, and pavement markings.

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Bus Operations division (BOD) anticipates contracting for preventative maintenance filters over a 5-year period (3+1+1).
