Storm Water Repair and Improvement FY 2022-B

Work performed under this contract will consist of storm water infrastructure repair and improvement projects within the city limits of Charlotte, NC.  Work will involve mobilization, earthwork, drainage structures, storm drain pipe systems, channels, working over, under, near, and around existing private utilities asphalt paving, concrete flatwork, and landscaping and any associated work required by the Engineer.  Other work may include structural foundation protection, storm water pipe lining, storm water pipe joint and structure repair, water and sewer (relocations, installations and adjustments).  Storm Water maintenance work may be located entirely within the street right-of-way.

Vest Water Treatment Plant Concrete Repairs

The Project consists of concrete repairs and coating applications in the south filter gallery gullets and south sedimentation basin flumes. Improvements to the flocculation basin effluent flumes, including installation of a concrete bulkhead and stop plates. Additional work includes hatch installations, miscellaneous concrete repairs throughout the facility, and miscellaneous small diameter pipe replacement.

Zone 1 HVAC Rehabilitation (CANCELLED)

This project will be adding freeze protection to the two warehouse spaces that are approximately 30,000 square feet.  The space currently has no permanent means of heat.   The completed project will include several space heaters, piping, and electrical controls.  This will also include a storage pad and outdoor bulk propane tank which will fuel the heaters.

McAlpine Creek Wastewater Management Facility Waste Activated Sludge Equalization and Blending and Odor Control Improvements

The Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) Equalization and Blending and Odor Control Improvements Project includes upgrades to several facilities at the McAlpine Creek Wastewater Management Facility (WWMF). Primary components include construction of a new cast in place concrete WAS equalization structure with multiple tanks/cells with mixers and pumps to allow for equalization and blending of WAS from the McAlpine Creek WWMF, Sugar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and in the future the Irwin Creek WWTP. Adjacent to this structure is a blending basin pump station which will convey blended WAS to the existing solids treatment process and in the future to the planned Thermal Hydrolysis Process. In addition, the project includes a new wet scrubber chemical odor control system for the Screening and Grit Facility, new duct work to this system from the south plant primary clarifiers and gravity thickeners as well as the rehabilitation of the Consolidated Influent Pump Station (CIPS) odor scrubber system.

Lee S. Dukes Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Miscellaneous Chemical Feed Improvement Project

The project consists of installation of 6,000 LF of new 3-inch x 6-inch diameter double wall containment pipe for new chlorine dioxide chemical feed system, including all appurtenances, leak detection system, electrical, testing, and final commissioning.  Installation of two (2) new 2-inch diameter HDPE raw water sample lines (approximate length is 6,000 LF for each), including all appurtenances, and testing. Installation of a new raw water sample pump, casing, piping, appurtenances, electrical, and testing at the Raw Water Intake at Blythe Landing.  Removal and replacement of various chemical feed lines (11/2-inch and 4-inch diameter) inside existing 8-inch and 12-inch diameter casing pipes. Installation of new fiber optic cable (approximately 6,000 LF) between the Lee S. Dukes WTP and the Raw Water Intake. Installation of new potable water line from Highway 73 to existing Compressor Building, including all appurtenances, and testing.

Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Phase II Roof Replacement

This work includes the provision of labor, material, equipment, supervision and administration to includes:

1. Roof Areas C1‐C3, D, E1‐E3, F1‐F3 and G:

a. Remove and dispose of base flashings, walkway pads and sheet metal.

b. Prepare two‐ply modified bitumen roof membrane to receive recovering roof system.

c. Provide a cold adhesive applied two‐ply modified bitumen roof membrane along with

flashings and accessories.

d. Replace sheet metal flashings and trim.

e. Provide a complete, watertight, 20‐year extension to existing roof system warranty.

2. Exterior Wall Restoration:

a. Replace elastomeric joint sealants at control joints and expansion joints at elevation walls

above roof level from through wall flashing up 6 feet.

b. Replace through wall flashings at masonry elevation wall above roof level.

c. Replace through wall flashings at window/door heads.

N. Tryon St- 36th St. Streetscape

The project will provide infrastructure improvements that include sidewalk, curb and gutter, milling- resurfacing, pedestrian refuge and signals, cross walks, planting strips, street trees, pedestrian and street lighting, bike lanes, and on-street parking. The project will provide 0.4 miles of streetscape along 36th street between North Tryon Street and Davidson Street. The project will tie into the Blue Line Extension project on 36th street.

McAlpine Biosolids Improvements-CANCELLED

This project involves the rehabilitation of Biosolids Facilities and Processes which includes the dewatering facility, digester complexes, and digesters. Major mechanical process work and electrical upgrades will also be completed.
