3145 S. Tryon st. Chiller Replacement Project

Replace existing 160 Ton Air-cooled chiller with two smaller chiller units. One fore the Admin building and the other to support BOD Maintenance and body shops. This project is in response to failed chilled water piping the currently feeds the admin building. We currently have a rental chiller that is supplying the Admin building.

Pineville-Matthews Road/Alexander Road Sidewalk Project

This project will add sidewalk along Hwy 51 from Echo Forest Drive (Providence High School) to Alexander Road- and sidewalk on Alexander Road between Hwy 51 and Woodshed Court. The project will also add a right turn and a second left turn lanes on Alexander Road at Hwy 51. Project length= 1.0 mile.

I-85 North Bridge Construction

This project will connect Doug Mayes Place and Research Drive. The connection includes two bridges, one over I-85 and the other over Doby Creek. The bridge over I-85 will include aesthetic elements to create a gateway into Charlotte. The project will also realign the intersection of Research Drive and David Taylor Drive to provide more efficient travel through the intersection.

West Mallard Creek Church Road Shared- Use Path

This project is being built to add sidewalks as part of the city’s Capital Investment Fund to provide a safe, efficient, comfortable pedestrian system to improve the quality of life of its residents, visitors, and businesses. Improvements will be provided along the south side of West Mallard Creek  Church Road, from Mallard Creek Road to roughly 600′ east of Claude Freeman Drive. The project proposes a 12 ft. shared-use path, a typical 8 ft. planting strip (where possible), signalization and intersection improvements at David Taylor Drive, and intersection improvements at Claude Freeman Drive.

McDowell Roofs Package 3 – Cancelled

This project consists of replacing various roofs at the McDowell Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.  This package will potentially include the replacement of four separate roofs.

FY21 Unspecified Time and Materials Water & Sewer Repairs

The Project consists of providing equipment, vehicles, machinery, implements, tools, supplies, incidentals, and skilled personnel to complete unspecified modifications, maintenance, and repairs to existing water and sewer lines in the Charlotte Water service area.

Irwin Rehabilitation Improvements

The Project consists of work in multiple process areas as follows:

  • Replacement of the roof and HVAC equipment at the Administration building.
  • Modifications to the existing grit removal chamber at the flow equalization facilities to include a 7-foot Parshall flume.
  • Spot concrete, sealant, and pavement repairs at the flow equalization facilities.
  • Installation of a third mechanical bar screen in the existing Influent Pump Station. The new mechanical screen is pre-purchased by the Owner. The Contractor will administer submittals and handle receipt, installation, startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Installation of a new eductor system on all the Influent pumps to automatically vent the pump casings.
  • Modifications to the 18-inch discharge piping of two influent pumps.
  • Installation of a new process analyzer (Chemscan) near the Aeration Basins. The analyzer equipment, FRP enclosure, and sample pumps are pre-purchased by the Owner. The Contractor will administer submittals and handle receipt, installation, startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Modifications to the plant’s effluent piping (42 and 30 inches in diameter) including replacement of a flowmeter vault with a new vault. The new meter will be provided by the Owner. This work will require bypass pumping.
  • Replacement of the roof and select HVAC equipment at the Old Chlorine Building (Additive Alternate 1).

Sugar and Irwin UV Replacement – CANCELLED

This project is to replace the ultraviolet disinfection equipment at the Sugar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Irwin Creek WWTP.  The scope of the work also includes the replacement of the effluent filter piping and valves in addition to concrete channel work.

Ashe Plantation Phase II Upgrades – Re-Advertisement for Bids

The Project consists of the demolition of the existing 0.1 MGD “packaged” WWTP (flow eq, sludge holding, extended aeration, clarifiers), filters, generator, shed and select yard piping. The new infrastructure includes a new 0.1 MGD “packaged” WWTP (flow eq, sludge holding, extended aeration), two
clarifiers, pre-engineered office/lab building, generator and the associated yard piping, site work, electrical and instrumentation. This scope of work also includes the relocation of and existing 8” gravity sewer line.
