Charlotte Area Transit System / Construction, General Services
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Rail Operations Division anticipates contracting out rail grinding. The work includes restoration of the rail profile, removal of surface defects, improvement of the wheel-rail interface performance, extension of rail life, and reduction of noise and vibration along the rail network. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, planning, and documentation necessary to perform rail grinding services in accordance with these specifications.

Aviation / Construction
The project involves the interior upfit of approximately 2,000 square feet of existing shell space on the baggage level of the main terminal at CLT Airport, including a baggage handling control room, support space, and a break room. The predominant work will consist of typical finishes such as drywall, ceilings, flooring, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection. The duration of the project is expected to be approximately four to six months. Most of the work will occur during the day, with material delivery and debris removal taking place at night.

Aviation / Construction
The project involves a new baggage transfer line that will replace an existing transfer line in the main CLT Airport baggage area. The predominant work associated with the project includes an addition to the baggage handling system, along with minor amounts of electrical, drywall, and ceiling work. The duration of the project is directly related to the manufacture of baggage handling components, which could result in an overall project duration between six months and eighteen months. Much of the work will be required to be performed at night, in coordination with the main baggage handling area and baggage handling system schedules.

Aviation / Construction
A new Center Lighting Vault (CLV) facility will be constructed ahead of the future South Ramp Expansion – Phase 3. Relocation of this facility will include relocating all existing infrastructure from the existing CLV to the proposed site location. Scope of work for this project includes airfield electrical, new building construction, security fencing and more. Following the commissioning of the new CLV facility, the project will decommission and demo the existing building facilities and equipment.

Aviation / Construction
This project will consist of roadway construction improvements in two phases/intersections. The first phase will construct new ramps to merge on and off Josh Birmingham Parkway at the eastbound lane of Wilkinson Blvd. There will also be an extension of the existing left turn lanes from the westbound side of Wilkinson Blvd. onto Josh Birmingham Pkwy. The second phase/intersection will include widening of the northbound lanes on Harlee Avenue at Wilkinson Blvd. to include two left turn lanes, one straight through lane and one right turn lane. This project consists of road widening, grading, asphalt paving, concrete curb, pavement markings, and utility coordination.

The project involves the replacement of existing roofing on the main terminal and Concourse D of CLT Airport, along with the replacement of existing air handling units. The work includes re-roofing, removal of abandoned mechanical equipment and support structures, and replacement of existing air handling units. The project is anticipated to have a duration between one and two years. Much of the work will occur during the day; however, delivery of materials and removal of debris will take place at night.

Charlotte Water / Construction
Charlotte Water is seeking a construction contractor. This contract will be for the construction of multiple defined small water main replacement projects in neighborhoods totaling approximately 25,000 LF of 2-, 6-, 8-, and 12-inch main replacement.

Aviation / Construction
This project is a renovation at the airport’s fixed based operator (FBO) location that will modify the existing mechanical infrastructure to bring the system into compliance with NFPA code and safety standards, while also increasing flow capacity to allow for faster fueling operations.
The scope of work includes replacement of the meter and filters, replacement of the control valve with a flow-rate control system, and the addition of an overfill prevention system and relaxation chamber.
The project duration is anticipated to be approximately five months, with roughly four months allocated for shop fabrication, assembly, and submittals, followed by approximately one month for onsite installation.

Charlotte Water / Construction
This project will deliver a new lift station and force main to convey wastewater flow from the City of Belmont to Charlotte Water’s Stowe Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility via Charlotte Water’s Paw Creek Pump Station. This project will allow the existing Belmont Wastewater Treatment Plant to be decommissioned and eliminate the need for costly improvements at this facility. Due to separate funding sources, the project will be delivered via Design-Bid-Build delivery method through two phases of design and three separate construction contracts.

Charlotte Storm Water Services / Construction
This project consists of multiple isolated storm drainage improvements projects located throughout the City of Charlotte. Projects include storm drainage replacement and sewer relocations within the street right-of-way and private, residential properties.

Project consists of lining 556 LF of 42 inch CMP and 131 LF of 15 inch RCP with CIPP. Eight existing drainage structures will be removed and replaced and two additional structures will be added. 221 LF of 15″ RCP will be removed and replaced. Chemical grouting joint repair will also be installed at approx. 15 locations throughout the 42″ CMP.
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Development division anticipates posting a solicitation for the construction of an operator comfort station at the Park and Ride on Old Concord Road.
