Firehouse #30, currently located at 4707 Belle-Oaks Drive, near Charlotte Douglas Airport is currently located in a house built in 1955 and needs extensive renovations. The facility is the only firehouse where crews must leave their living quarters to access their apparatus, as a result, impacting response time.
Firehouse #30 design services with use of Advance Planning funds will be utilized to build a replacement 3-bay 2-story firehouse to manage response volumes in the Beam Road/Airport area. The new facility will be approximately 14,000 square feet. The building will be located at 3019 Beam Road, directly across from Police and Fire Academy, and parcel ID number is 141-24-104. Located in Council District 3. The firehouse design will be the same floor plan design as Hidden Valley Firehouse #45 (HVFH#45). This project is also designated to be an all-electric firehouse and additional scope will be added to the project. An all-electric fire engine will also be acquired for this facility.
Remove and dispose of the existing roof system including flashings and sheet metal down to the existing poured gypsum deck. Provide base sheet mechanically attached to roof deck. Provide vapor retarder. Provide roof insulation system. Provide a cold adhesive applied two-ply modified bitumen roof membrane along with flashings and accessories. Replace sheet metal flashings and trim. Provide a complete, weathertight, 20-year warrantable roof assembly with 30-year finish warranty.
The existing roof area consist of a concrete deck, hot mopped asphalt base layer, a layer of tapered isocyanurate insulation, a one and three-quarter inch layer of perlite insulation, and a 2-ply modified bitumen roof membrane. The existing roof systems shall be removed to the deck. The deck shall be cleaned and prepared for reinstallation of roofing materials. Install a one and one-half inch base layer of isocyanurate insulation set in foam insulation adhesive. Adhere a new base layer to the existing concrete deck in foam insulation adhesive as required to meet 90psf uplift per FM Global. Install an additional layer of one-eigth inch per foot tapered isocyanurate insulation set in foam insulation adhesive. Install new silicon impregnated fiberglass reinforced cover board in foam insulation adhesive. Fully adhere new PVC membrane and flashings as specified herein and as shown in the project drawings as required by the manufacturer for a twenty-year (20) NDL Manufacturer’s Warranty. The new roof system shall be able to resist the win uplift loading.
The project consists of a roof replacement at Police and Fire Training Academy, in Charlotte, North Carolina. This work includes labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and administration to replace the existing two-ply modified bitumen roof system with the specified thermoplastic, single-ply roof system on 4 roof areas totaling approximately 59,115 square feet of roof area.
Project consists of roof replacement of Fire Station 33 in Charlotte, NC. This work includes the provision of labor, material, equipment, supervision, an administration.
Replace the existing built-up asphalt roof system with the specified two-ply modified bitumen roof system on 2 roof areas totaling approximately 9,700 square feet of roof area.
The purpose of this contract is to perform roof replacement and building envelope repairs for two buildings located at 4800 and 4814 West Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina. Estimated term to be less than one year.
Project consists of roof replacement at Fleet Management, Charlotte, North Carolina. This work includes
the provision of labor, material, equipment, supervision and administration to includes:
1. Roof Areas A, B, C and D:
a. Complete removal of all existing metal roof, insulation, bituminous flashings and metal flashings,
gutters and downspouts, abandoned vents and discard.
b. Furnish and install new roof insulation, structural metal roof panels and all associated
miscellaneous work as specified herein.
c. Furnish and install new gutters, downspouts and bituminous and metal flashings.
2. Roof Area E:
a. Furnish and install new roof insulation, fully adhered PVC roof membrane and all associated
miscellaneous work as specified herein.
b. Furnish and install new gutters, downspouts and bituminous and metal flashings.
Design and construct a new 2-story, 3-bay firehouse at 14,626 square feet, to be located at 5800 North Tryon Street. This facility will be a new infill firehouse that will alleviate high call volume for surrounding firehouses. A new firehouse must be built when a new “point of dispatch” is required in order to meet response time standards. The proposed facility will be located on a 2.03-acre parcel that facilitates the redevelopment of abandoned/underutilized sites and vacant sites. This location and site selection shall meet the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.
This project will pursue LEED certification. The site will incorporate solar panels and a geothermal well system with water source heat pumps.
Phase II Animal Care & Control renovations will address non-compliant issues per the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Animal Welfare Section (NCDA&CS) Inspection reports issued in 2018, 2020, and 2021. Phase II will address renovations for separation of species, inadequate ventilation surfaces not impervious to moisture, slab repair, additional square footage for dog and cat housing, and if funding is available fencing and gate replacement for dog kennels. This phase also will address ADA Barrier renovations to meet international ADA code requirements.
The facility is located at 8315 Byrum Drive, near the airport. This facility is just under 30 years old and the renovations required are a direct response to the NCDA&CS inspection reports. Also, the project will incorporate renovations to address ADA barriers in the facility, such as door hardware, signs, plumbing, minor parking lot curbing, etc.
CMPD background checks will be required for all construction staff, vendors, and anyone occupying the site during construction and deliveries.
