Miranda Road Firehouse 46

A new infill firehouse will be designed and constructed at 4032 Miranda Road to alleviate high call volumes and meet response time standards in the area. The firehouse will reflect the design of Firehouse #45, a 3-bay, 2-story firehouse programmed for approximately 14,600 square feet. The proposed facility will be located at the corner of Beatties Ford Road. Parcel #03741123 is approximately 6.54 acres. This location and site selection meets the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.

River District Firehouse – Phase 1

Scope Statement: CFD plans to build a temporary firehouse for the newly developed River District to manage response volumes in the area. The firehouse will be located on Dixie River Road, near the future Catawba Crossing, on parcel number 14128101.

The Phase 1 facility will be (1) triple wide trailer to house the firemen and a pre-engineered building to serve as an apparatus bay to house the fire engine and emergency equipment.

This location and site selection meets the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.

Sharon Road at Eastburn Road Improvements

This project is located on Sharon Road at Eastburn Road. The project proposes a curve realignment adding a left-turn lane from Sharon Road on to Eastburn Road and removing the superelevation.

CMPD Animal Care and Control Phase 3 Expansion

The purpose of the CMPD Animal Care and Control, Phase 3 Expansion project is primarily to provide additional kennels for dogs and reduce the increasing rate of euthanasia.  Secondly, to provide additional space for other animals and improve the efficiencies of operations for the facility.  The expansion of the facility will possibly be located at 2700 Toomey Avenue and the parcel is currently 4.67 acres. This is the old location for the Animal Humane Society.  We are currently in the advanced planning phase to acquire a schematic design to confirm the estimated construction cost.

The Construction delivery system will be Progressive Design Build. It is also anticipated that the city will acquire an Owner’s Advisor to assist with procurement and additional services during design and construction.

CMGC – ADA Implementation – Phase 1 – Chambers

This project will address the non-conforming, physical ADA barriers to the greatest extent feasible and where applicable under code provisions. Phase 1 addresses barriers in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center Chamber Space. Scope includes the following, but is not limited to, Doors and Door Hardware, Ramps, Seating, Millwork, Speaker Podiums, Media Pit, Dias Access and Entry Vestibule Controlled Access.

Old City Hall – ADA Implementation

This solicitation will be used for addressing the physical barriers identified in the city’s ADA Transition Plan. Areas include but are not limited to; restrooms, water fountains, signage, handrails/guardrails, doors & hardware, main lobby service area, exterior sidewalks, parking, and striping.

Firehouse #30 Replacement

Firehouse #30, currently located at 4707 Belle-Oaks Drive, near Charlotte Douglas Airport, is currently located in a house built in 1955 and needs extensive renovations. The facility is the only firehouse where crews must leave their living quarters to access their apparatus, as a result, in impacting response time.

Firehouse #30 design services with the use of Advance Planning funds will be utilized to build a replacement 3-bay 2-story firehouse to manage response volumes in the Beam Road/Airport area. The new facility will be approximately 14,000 square feet. The building will be located at 3019 Beam Road, directly across from the Police and Fire Academy, and the parcel ID number is 141-24-104. It is located in Council District 3. The firehouse design will be the same floor plan design as Hidden Valley Firehouse #45 (HVFH#45).  This project is also designated to be an all-electric firehouse and additional scope will be added.

Collective Storm Drainage Improvement Project Series Z

Collective Storm Drainage Improvement Project Series Z will be comprised of two separate projects, 1818 Baxter Street and 7316 Thorncliff Drive. 1818 Baxter Street’s main component will include 46 linear feet of 9’x6’ precast reinforced concrete box culvert with sills. 7316 Thorncliff Drive’s main component is 213 linear feet of 6’x7’ precast reinforced concrete box culvert with sills. 7316 Thorncliff Drive will also include storm drainage improvements in the road way with approximately 300 linear feet of 18” to 30” reinforced concrete pipe, and several utility relocations.

Stowe Regional WRRF Northern Access Road

The Project is for the construction of a new access road to the Long Creek Pump Station and the proposed Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF).  The Northern Access Road consists of approximately 5,500 linear feet of paved open-shoulder roadway with 2-12 feet travel lanes and a dual 8’x7’ reinforced concrete box culvert carrying Long Creek Tributary #1 to its confluence with Long Creek.
