One of four remaining bid packages within the North End Around Taxiway Program. The relocation of Old Dowd Road includes the construction of one two-lane bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railway (NSRR), as well as retaining structures, civil site work, and approximately 3,800 feet of a two-lane roadway connecting existing Old Dowd Road directly to Wilkinson Boulevard. The work also includes demolition of the existing bridge over the NS railroad tracks at Marshall Drive and the construction of approximately 10,000 feet of 24-inch water main and the construction of a regional detention basin.
Airfield Crack Sealing Repairs
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is seeking a contractor to perform crack sealing on CLT’s airfield. The work performed on the airfield will include working on runways, taxiways, aprons, and areas around the terminal ramp.
The working hours for this project will be from 11:15 pm to 5:30 am. The contractor will be required to provide all materials, equipment, labor to install crack sealant and cleaning for the work area. The airport will furnish and install
the required barricades for this project.
Decommission Runway 5-23
This airfield construction project will convert existing Runway 5-23 into a taxiway. Work includes but is not limited to asphalt paving, airfield marking, and airfield electrical.
Taxiway F Deicing Pad South Crossfield Package-2 Paving and Electrical (Construction)
This project consists of all pavement and lighting for the new taxiway extensions and deicing pad construction. Specific work includes erosion control, asphalt paving, concrete paving, drainage installation, pavement markings, signage, conduit installation, electrical work, and associated miscellaneous items.
North End Around Taxiway Grading and Drainage
One of seven remaining bid packages within the North End Around Taxiway Program. This package includes the major grading, drainage, utility, and NAVAIDS relocations required by the NEAT. The modifications to the NAVAIDS include a localizer relocation, modifications to multiple MALSR light stations, new NAVAID shelters and the relocation of an ASOS. These include, but are not limited to, the following: (i) Runway 36C Localizer; (ii) Runway 18C Medium Intensity Approach Light System (MALSR); (iii) Runway 18C Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI). These relocations will require full communication (fiber) connections to the airport fiber system and back-up power.

West Blvd. Relocation (Construction)
This project is associated with the Airport’s 4th Parallel Runway Project. West Boulevard will need to be relocated to Piney Top Drive and Byrum Drive in order to create space for the 4th Parallel Runway and South End-Around Taxiway. Intersection improvements and roadway widening will occur at various locations along the corridor
