Mallard Creek Water Treatment Project includes the installation of approximately 1.4 miles of fiber optic cable in new directionally bored and trenched conduit and aerial attachments. This project also includes fiber splicing and testing. The project limits are from N Tryon Street between Pavilion Boulevard and Pilot Avenue and then along Pilot Avenue to a Charlotte Water building. Then there is fiber splicing work being performed at N Tryon Street and Ken Hoffman Dr and N Tryon Street and E Mallard Creek Church Rd in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC. The Catawba Pump Station project includes the installation of approximately .93 miles of fiber optic cable in new directionally bored and trenched conduit and aerial attachments. This project also includes fiber splicing and testing. The project limits are from Mt Holly Huntersville Road between Brookshire Boulevard and Pump Station Road and then along Pump Station Road to a Charlotte Water building and Brookshire Boulevard and Lawton Road for 1000 feet in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC.
Erwin Road and Byrum Drive Intelligent Transportation System Project
The Erwin Road ITS Project includes the installation of approximately 0.8 miles of fiber optic cable in new directionally bored conduit. This project also includes fiber optic cable splicing and testing. The project limits are Erwin Road and South Tryon Street to Erwin Road and Steele Creek Road in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC. The Byrum Drive ITS Project includes the installation of approximately 2.7 miles of fiber optic cable in new directionally bored and trenched conduit and aerial fiber attachments to wood utility poles. This project also includes fiber optic cable splicing and testing. The project limits are West Boulevard/Steel Creek Road/Byrum Drive along Byrum Drive to Yorkmont Road/Byrum Drive and along Yorkmont Road to West Boulevard/Yorkmont Road and along West Boulevard to Billy Graham Parkway in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC.

This project will install single‐mode fiber optic cable installed in new directionally bored, hand-dug, and trenched conduit, existing conduit, and aerial attachments to poles. It will remove existing copper communication cables. This project includes entrances and interconnect equipment for existing traffic signal control cabinets and the installation of traffic management cameras. This project also includes fiber optic cable splicing, testing, Ethernet communications equipment, traffic management camera equipment, and other related activities.
Sugar Creek Road Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)
This project will install single‐mode fiber optic cable in new directionally bored, hand-dug, and trenched conduit, existing conduit, and aerial attachments to poles. It will remove existing copper communication cables. This project includes entrances and interconnect equipment for existing traffic signal control cabinets and the installation of traffic management cameras. This project also includes fiber optic cable splicing, testing, Ethernet communications equipment, traffic management camera equipment and other related activities.
ITS Miscellaneous On-Call Construction
This is a three-year contract with the Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) City’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The contract will include repairing or relocating conduit, fiber, aluminum poles, traffic management cameras, and other facilities throughout the Charlotte service area. There may also be small project work not related to repairs.
The Superintendent may be required to respond and be on-site within 3 to 6 hours. They will be expected to evaluate the conditions and develop an agreed-upon plan with the city.
While it is anticipated that the majority of the work will be able to be performed during normal working hours, there may be instances where overtime work is needed, or work on nights and/or weekends or holidays. Separate pay items have been included to cover these instances. Due to the urgent nature of some of these repairs, work in inclement weather may be required.
ITS Design Services On-Call
This contract will be with professional engineering consulting firms to provide professional engineering services for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects. These projects are part of the Charlotte Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) ITS Master Plan which are critical in their efforts to upgrade and expand the traffic signal system network in the city.
The services could include fiber optic cable routing plans, utility make-ready plans, fiber optic cable splice details, traffic surveillance cameras, engineered project specifications, construction cost estimates, developing traffic signal plans per CDOT and NCDOT standards, coordination of the utility make-ready work, assistance with the project administration and inspection during construction.
The services may also include grant consulting services that may range from developing proposals, overseeing implementation and performing construction administration and inspection per state and federal guidelines and standards. These contracts may have local, state, or federal funding.

Traffic Signal Copper Wire
The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) requires the use of traffic signal copper wire for electrical and communication cabling during the installation of loops and signals. The material is necessary for routine installation and maintenance related projects.
This solicitation is a Request for Information on the standard and best way to procure traffic signal copper wire over three years with the option to renew for two additional one-year terms.
