The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) BOD division anticipates contracting for Paratransit vans with an order for 29 vehicles anticipated during Year 1 (i.e., 2025 to 2026).

CATS Mobile Town Hall Vehicle Upfit

This vehicle upfit will serve as a mobile town hall for community events and will be available for use by all city departments.  CATS will have first priority given the role CATS has served in bringing this mobile town hall to life.

Undercover Vehicle Lease

The City will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select a vendor to provide leased vehicle services. These vehicles are used primarily by the Vice and Narcotics and Gang Units in the specialized undercover investigations. Leasing Vehicles enables Police to rapidly switch out a vehicle if it is identified as an undercover car.

CMPD Undercover Leased Vehicle Services

The City will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select a vendor to provide leased vehicle services. The Company shall Maintain and make available a fleet of new Vehicles in various categories, given turnover and other requirements as is necessary to maintain confidentiality of CMPD Officers. These vehicles are used primarily by the Vice and Narcotics, and Gang Units in the specialized undercover investigations. Leasing Vehicles enables Police to rapidly switch out a vehicle if it is identified as an undercover car.

 

Large Utility Bodies

Charlotte Water will purchase heavy duty truck bodies for replacement vehicles, and new vehicles that may be needed for future operations. Utility truck bodies are installed on separate cab/chassis assemblies which are purchased from a different vendor that is already under contract. The truck bodies purchased on this contract come in different configurations based on the intended use of each specific vehicle. They are installed on trucks used by construction crews in the course of field maintenance and repair tasks throughout the water and wastewater system.

Cancelled – Non-Revenue Support Vehicles

CATS is seeking a contract to purchase non-revenue vehicles for multiple sections with the agency.  Below is the list of requested vehicles and the vehicles being replaced (grouped by section):

Rail Transportation – One (1) mid-sized SUV with light package and radio – ~
MOW Track – One (1) 1-ton Crew Cab P/U Light package (High rail up-fit on different PSR1142)
MOW Train – Two (2) 1-ton Crew Cab P/U with light package (1 with High rail – different PSR1142)
MOW Power – One (1) 1-ton Crew Cab P/U with light package

CATS needs a contract to purchase non-revenue support vehicles for multiple sections within the agency.  Below is the list of requested vehicles and the vehicles that are being replaced by section:

Bus Operations – Five (5) Small SUVS with light bars and radio

Bus Maintenance – Three (3) 3/4 ton P/U
One (1) HD ton with Stake bed body (Equipment will be on another PSR)

STS Non-rev – Two (2) minivans with Braunability

MOW Track – Two (2) Small SUV’s with light package

Facilities – One (1) Mid-sized SUV with Security light package
One (1) 1/2 ton P/U ext cab with Light package

STS FY19 Vehicle Replacement Purchase

STS (Special Transportation Services) vehicle replacement for FY19. FY19 plan to purchase approximately 11 new ADA (Americans Disability Acts)  vehicles. STS (Special Transportation Services) needs to purchase eleven LPG powered replacement paratransit buses, that adhere to the  specifications.
