Vehicle Tires and Wheel Services

The City of Charlotte’s operates over 6,500 vehicles, including, but not limited to, heavy-duty refuse and recycle trucks, street sweepers, construction equipment, light-duty trucks, trailers, cars, and SUVs.

The City seeks to establish a contract for Vehicle Tires and Wheel Service from qualified vendors. The contract will be for the purchase, delivery, installation, labor-related maintenance, and service calls in compliance with the specifications and terms and conditions outlined in this ITB. The City of Charlotte will match the load, speed, and tread wear ratings to meet the requirements of specific vehicles and applications. All tires offered shall be the latest models available from manufacturers.

Services provided under this ITB will be provided to the City’s Solid Waste Services Department and other City Departments.

Catch Basins, Grates, Frames, and Hoods

The city installs and maintains road drainage structures within the right-of-way to prevent flooding and water ponding on streets. Catch basins, grates, frames, and hoods are necessary to collect runoff from the roadway
and direct it to the stormwater collection systems. The scope of this contract would be for the furnishing and delivery of catch basins, grates, frames & hoods used by the Charlotte Department of Transportation, Street Maintenance Division.

Materials for Franklin Water Treatment Plant Clearwell Improvements

​​​This Invitation to Bid will be to contract with a supplier to provide large diameter valves and similar materials for Charlotte Water’s Franklin Water Treatment Plant’s clearwell improvements project. Lead time on this material is estimated to be 12 months.  These materials will be used in the construction of the project that is estimated to begin May 2023.

Emergency Bagged Ice

The City of Charlotte is looking to receive quotes for Emergency Bagged Ice.   The intent of this resulting contract is to be pre-positioned in the event a state of emergency has been declared by the Governor of North Carolina and/or a federally declared disaster area as designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  The Company would be required to deliver bags of ice and a merchandiser for storage to specified locations by a City department during the emergency event.

Portland Cement

The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT), Street Maintenance Division (SMD) is seeking to contract with a vendor(s) to provide Portland Type I/II Cement. All materials provided would be delivered (blow filled into silo or tanker) by the successful Bidder to a specified job site(s) or picked up at the successful Bidder’s plant by city-owned vehicles. 

Portland Cement must meet the following specifications:
AASHTO M 85 for Type I or Type II or ASTM C l 50 Standard Specification for
Portland Cement

Aviation Ground Support Equipment

The scope of this contract shall be to provide aviation ground support equipment for airport operation services. The term will be 3 years with the option to renew for 2 additional one year terms.

Transfer Line Materials

​This ITB is to contract with one supplier to provide materials (pipe, fittings, valves, etc.) for a transfer line project for Charlotte Water’s Engineering division. Lead time on this material is estimated to be 6 – 12 months, and the project is estimated to begin Spring 2023. The materials is needed to install a sludge transfer line between Vest and Franklin Water Treatment Plants. All materials must be purchased from one supplier to manage lead times and other important project aspects.

Fire Apparatus

The Charlotte Fire Department is seeking bids for future fire apparatus purchases.  The specific apparatus that will be bid upon shall be custom built pumpers, rear mount ladder trucks and mid-mount tower ladders.  The department typically purchases 8 trucks per year for the replacements and additions to the fleet.  Detailed specifications and requirements will be published with the Invitation to Bid.
