Large Utility Bodies

Charlotte Water will purchase heavy duty truck bodies for replacement vehicles, and new vehicles that may be needed for future operations. Utility truck bodies are installed on separate cab/chassis assemblies which are purchased from a different vendor that is already under contract. The truck bodies purchased on this contract come in different configurations based on the intended use of each specific vehicle. They are installed on trucks used by construction crews in the course of field maintenance and repair tasks throughout the water and wastewater system.

McDowell Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant Dewatering, Disposal and Cleaning

The project consists of removing and properly disposing of all materials currently stored in Digester No. 5 and cleaning Digester No. 5 located at McDowell Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant in Huntersville, NC. Material stored in the digester may have been in place for up to 15 years and includes but is not limited to: grit, digested bio-solids, water and rags.

The Company shall transport and dispose of the materials removed from the digester to an appropriately permitted, licensed, EPA Subtitle D landfill facility of the Company’s choice. Material removal, transportation and disposal shall be performed in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.  If the material is deemed allowable for land application and Company has permit to land apply, then the material may be removed and land applied.

Biosolids Thermal Hydrolysis Process Design Build Project

Charlotte Water intends to implement the Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) and other biosolids treatment improvements at the McAlpine Creek Wastewater Management Facility (WWMF) utilizing the Progressive-Design-Build delivery method to create a sustainable, regionalized, diversified, and resilient biosolids management program. The project will include the design and construction of multiple facilities at the McAlpine Creek WWMF including a Pre-Dewatering building with associated process equipment, screened sludge storage tanks, THP systems as furnished by CAMBI, improvements to the existing anaerobic digester complex including steam boilers, replacement odor control facility, sidestream deammonification treatment, electrical distribution system improvements, and other ancillary components.

McAlpine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent Filter Backwash Blowers

Charlotte Water will be seeking bids for the purchase two Gardner Denver centrifugal blowers for its McAlpine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. These blowers are to be utilized for backwashing effluent filters. Awarded bidder will be responsible for the shipment of the items to the facility. The equipment will be installed as part of a future construction contract. The needed control panels will be supplied by a third party.

Bid price will include a one-year warranty from the time of installation or 18 months from the time of delivery. Bid price will also include up to three one-day site visits to assist Charlotte Water’s third party contractor with installation and start-up as required.

 

FY23 Small Diameter Water/Sewer Contract #1

This contract is for water and sanitary sewer service installations including connection to the existing public main, which extends a small diameter line to the property, and includes a water meter box or sanitary sewer cleanout. Customers pay connection fees for the installation service, which is based on costs incurred by Charlotte Water in these contracts. The work covered by this contract will provide approximately 800 total services.

Can Lift Stations Phase III

Rehabilitation of wastewater pumping stations. Includes replacement of submersible pumps and pump controls. Makes improvements to flow metering and SCADA systems.

FY23 Professional Engineering and Land Survey Services for Watermain and Sanitary Sewer Street Main Design/Extensions Contract #1 – CANCELLED

This contract is for professional services in support of the Design and Construction Division. These contracts will allow Design and Construction to assist with LCR projects which typically require a longer and more complicated design process which in turn is more costly. Examples of reasons for increased cost in LCR projects versus typical street main extensions would be the need for geotechnical investigation or wetlands investigation and permitting.
