Work performed under this contract will consist of storm water infrastructure repair and improvement projects within the city limits of Charlotte, NC. Work will involve mobilization, earthwork, drainage structures, storm drain pipe systems, channels, working over, under, near, and around existing private utilities asphalt paving, concrete flatwork, and landscaping and any associated work required by the Engineer. Other work may include structural foundation protection, storm water pipe lining, storm water pipe joint and structure repair, water and sewer (relocations, installations and adjustments). Storm Water maintenance work may be located entirely within the street right-of-way. |
Professional Engineering Services for Various Storm Water Services Projects
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is requesting proposals from qualified companies interested in providing Professional Engineering Services for Various Storm Water Services Projects. Services will be needed for the following two scopes of work:
Unspecified Minor Storm Drainage Improvement Projects
Work may include but is not necessarily limited to initiating new projects or the review and completion of an existing project’s activities already in progress. Minor drainage projects are the ones defined to average in total construction cost between $50,000 to $500,000 each.
Active Major Storm Drainage Improvement Projects
Work includes the review and completion of an existing project’s activities already in progress. Scoping on these projects is anticipated to begin in 2021. The specific projects will be identified in the Request for Qualifications.
Westbourne Storm Drainage Improvement Project
The project area covers approximately 20 acres and is roughly bounded by Old Plank Road to the north, Larkhaven Road to the east, Westbourne Drive to the west, and Bellhaven Boulevard to the south. The project includes storm drain improvement including culvert replacements, repair of aging and deteriorating storm drains by way of pipe system upgrades, and channel stabilization improvements. The project also includes water line upgrades and sanitary sewer relocations along with road resurfacing and seeding in affected project areas.
Elvis Storm Drainage Improvement Project
This project consists of two culverts in series under Cedarbrook Drive and Denbur Drive. Both culvert crossings consist of triple barrel corrugated metal pipe systems. This is a project that was identified by the asset management team and both culvert crossings are actively failing, and preliminary calculations show that the culverts are also undersized.
Bonwood Storm Drainage Improvement Project
The project involves analysis of existing conditions to determine areas suitable for improvement, planning analysis of improvement alternatives, and the design and construction of the needed improvements in the Bonwood Storm Drainage Improvement Project (SDIP) area. The Bonwood SDIP is bordered by Wendover Road to the south, Canterbury Drive to the east and Chadsford Place to the west. This project is within a drainage area of approximately 124 acres and the improvements include paving, curb and gutter, culvert replacements, pipe system lining/repair and upgrades, and minor open channel improvements. |
Chatham Storm Drainage Improvement Project
The purpose and need for this construction project is to improve the storm drainage infrastructure (i.e. pipe systems and culverts) to reduce flooding and to enhance degraded stream reaches to reduce erosion and improve water quality. This project is under review. Location and project details will be provided after review is complete.
5508 Hughes Drive Storm Drainage Improvement Project
Work performed under this contract will consist of the installation of storm drainage, updated drainage system outfall, curb, gutter, and resurfacing of the cul-de-sac.
911 Georgetown Storm Drainage Improvement Project
The purpose and need for this construction project is to improve the storm drainage infrastructure (i.e. pipe systems and culverts) to reduce flooding and to enhance degraded stream reaches to reduce erosion and improve water quality.
