Charlotte Storm Water Services / Construction
The project involves analysis of existing conditions to determine areas suitable for improvement, planning analysis of improvement alternatives, and the design and construction of the needed improvements in the Queens Storm Drainage Improvement Project (SDIP) area.
The Queens Storm Drainage Improvement Project is bordered by East 4th Street to the north, Baxter Street to the south, Caswell Road to the east and Baldwin Avenue to the west. This project area is within a drainage area of approximately 40 acres and the improvements will include pipe system upgrades and channel improvements.

Charlotte Storm Water Services / Construction
There is an existing wetlands system and stream adjacent to the Bruns Academy that are in need of improvements. The intent of this project is to reset an existing wetlands system to its original design and provide enhancement, where applicable. Wetland restoration efforts will include regrading, sodding and planting of vegetation, installation of a new pedestrian bridge and retaining wall. Additionally, stream improvements, such as regrading banks and adding riffles, are proposed. The proposed improvements will enhance the overall performance of the system for conveying and treating stormwater.

Widen Robinson Church Road from WT Harris Blvd. to the Plott Road/Highland Avenue intersection from two lanes to three lanes with intermittent islands. Amenities include: curb & gutter, shared-use path, planting strip, underground stormwater filers, accessible ramps, and mid-block crossings. Includes the construction of a roundabout.

The Morning Dale Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street and structure flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 560 acres, the project will replace and/or rehabilitate aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. This project area is bordered by Hinson Drive to the north, Stratfordshire Drive to the south, Tadlock Place to the east and Morning Dale Road to the west.

Rhodes SDIP is a minor bid project that was created to address the service request at 3738 Rhodes and is located on the City project dashboard.

Charlotte Water / General Services
This project will increase treatment capacity at the McDowell WRRF. Work will include but is not limited to designing a new BTB, RAS and WAS pumps, a new RAS distribution box, new hydro cyclones, and improvements to the blower building.

The need for this construction project is to improve the storm drainage infrastructure (i.e. pipe systems and culverts) to reduce flooding and to enhance degraded stream reaches to reduce erosion and improve water quality. This project is a collective package of 7 small Storm Drain Improvement projects that will be constructed under one contract. This project package is under review and location and project details will be provided after review is complete.

The existing drainage system consists of closed pipe systems. This drainage system is currently undersized and street flooding has been reported on Colville Road and building flooding has been reported on Cranbrook Lane.

Fixing non-compliant ramps and pedestrian signals at 2 signalized intersections. Curb ramp and sidewalk replacements at multiple unsignalized intersections. Mill & overlay and pavement marking work will be required. Traffic signal wiring/conduit work will be required.

The Newell Stream Restoration Project is located near WT Harris Boulevard (NC 24) and Old Concord Road along a network of tributaries to Toby Creek. Project improvements include restoring approximately 2,500 LF of degraded stream channel, floodplain, and riparian buffer.

| This project provides increased hydraulic capacity to the Mallard Tank, which will enable it to trend better with the Huntersville Tank. This will eliminate the need to throttle inlet valve at Huntersville Tank, which will result in energy savings by reducing discharge HGLs at pump stations. It will also provide higher capacity for water to be leaked through the Mallard PRV from the 978 into the 882 in emergency scenarios. |
