This project is located along East 6th Street between Poplar Street and Church Street. The existing drainage system consists of closed pipe system under city maintained road which is in poor condition and will replaced using a trenchless pipe bursting technology.

Westbourne Storm Drainage Improvement Project

This project is bordered by Old Plank Road to the north, Bellhaven Boulevard to the south, Larkhaven Road to the east and West Laporte Drive to the west. The drainage system consists of open channel and closed pipe systems underneath city-maintained roads. Significant erosion and numerous sink holes have been observed. It has been identified that failing infrastructure exists underneath city-maintained roads and the drainage management-team has made several intermediate repairs where ends of the pipe systems has fallen off into the open channels. Additionally, transverse roadway overtopping has been identified at Ravenswood Road and Balfour Lane. There are existing priority requests as far back as 2005.

This project consists of two culverts in series under Cedarbrook Drive and Denbur Drive. Both culvert crossings consist of triple barrel corrugated metal pipe systems. This is a project that was identified by the asset management team and both culvert crossings are actively failing, and preliminary calculations show that the culverts are also undersized.

The need for the project is based on the maintenance of facilities such as lakes and ponds that enhance stormwater quality under the requirements of the Clean Water Act.
