Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is a joint municipal/county stormwater utility that includes the City of Charlotte, the surrounding towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville and Mecklenburg County. The McDaniel Ln 6028 project consists of removing and replacing an existing storm drainage network in the Charlotte Hills Mobile Home Park. It currently has a preliminary estimate of 1.2million dollars.

The Shade Valley Pond Repairs project was initiated in order to relieve the City of significant efforts and costs of ongoing pond maintenance. Proposed improvements to the pond are intended to address nuisance vegetation, increase storage capacity, address geese issues, and enhance the overall aesthetics of the pond. Goals are to restore pond to “below normal pool” volumes via dredging of forebay and main pool to increase water quality function and remove available nutrients contributing to duckweed and algal blooms. The entirety of the pond and littoral shelf will be replanted with wetland plantings and trees to enhance aesthetics and decrease attractiveness of pond to geese. Geese preventative measures are proposed to establish plantings.

Project consist of joint repairs and the lining of 563 LF of 66 CMP with CIPP. Three non-standard and three standard structures will be removed/replaced as well as two headwalls. 57 LF of 24 inch RCP will be removed and replaced. A rip rap apron will be revised/installed. 70 LF of an 8″ water main will also be relocated.

Work performed under this contract will consist of storm water infrastructure repair and improvement projects within the city limits of Charlotte, NC. Work will involve mobilization, earthwork, drainage structures, storm drain pipe systems, and channels. Work will also include working over, under, near, and around existing private utilities, asphalt paving, concrete flatwork, landscaping and any associated work required by the Engineer. Other work may include structural foundation protection, storm water pipe lining, storm water pipe joint and structure repair, water and sewer (relocations, installations and adjustments). Storm Water maintenance work may be located entirely within the street right-of-way or within storm drainage easements.

Project proposed to replace an existing culvert system under Harwyn Dr. with 2 – 3×5 box culverts, as well as a pipe cleaning effort through the triple 54” RCP culvert at downstream Eaves Ln.

The need for this construction project is to improve the storm drainage infrastructure (i.e. pipe systems and culverts) to reduce flooding and to enhance degraded stream reaches to reduce erosion and improve water quality. The project is located at Robert L. Smith Park which can be accessed by Little Rock Road and Starnes Road. An existing pond has a breached dam embankment. Project improvements include dam embankment, forebay, outlet structure, and spillway upgrades.
