SAFT LRV S70 Replacement Batteries

Charlotte Area Transit System Rail Division is requesting to purchase 12 LRV S70 SAFT NICKEL CADMIUM BATTERY MODEL SRX220F3 COMPRISED OF 20 HIGH RATE SINTERED/PBE CELLS housed. The original life span of the current batteries have reached their maximum production life and inventory spares need to be replaced to ensure revenue service isn’t interrupted.

Cummins Engine Repair Service

CATS BOD (Bus Operations Department) is seeking an authorized vendor that can provide vehicle repair services for Cummins engines. The vendor must guarantee workmanship and honor warranty of the components replaced. The repair services of the Cummins engines shall include but not be limited to; diagnostics, routine repairs, and replacement of all mechanical engine components and accessories, all sensors on the engine or vehicle that could cause an engine fault code, and any wiring and harnesses that could cause an engine fault code. The contract will include the selling CATS the licenses of Cummins Insite (Pro and Basic) annually. In addition the contract will include selling CATS a subscription to Cummins QuickServe Online. This will allow the addition of new employees to the CATS subscription and have their own service training IDs.

Parts Washer Scheduled Preventative Maintenance and Repair

CATS Bus Operations Department is requesting a five (5) year contract for scheduled maintenance of the parts washers. Charlotte Area Transit System is requesting proposals for PM services for our parts washers. CATS uses multiple parts washers between two facilities.  The facilities are located at: 3145 South Tryon Charlotte, NC and 900 North Davidson Charlotte, NC.

Bus Paint

The scope of this solicitation is to establish a contract for the purchase and delivery of body shop paint so that the buses can be repaired and painted back to OE specifications. Bids will be received until 2:00 p.m. on August 17, 2021 at which time they will be opened and publicly read.

This project is from a prior opportunity that was for the solicitation of supplies and bus paint. This opportunity is for bus paint only.

CATS FY23 – Special Track Work Contractor

CATS MOW will need to solicit a railroad contractor to surface bridge and crossing approaches to maintain proper track geometry. The railroad contractor must have the equipment to weld track structure, machinery to tamp bridge and crossing approaches. Surfacing equipment must have the ability to tamp, lift, level and line in order to remove existing faults in longitudinal and alignment defects in the track structure. CATS MOW will provide a pilot that will assist with track access. CATS MOW will provide ballast and field weld kits for use as needed. The railroad contractor is responsible to ensure all machines can safely traverse the alignment, specs and diagrams for the alignment will be available from CATS if needed. The railroad contractor will need to be RWPP certified that will also be provided by CATS Safety personnel before fouling the Blue Line right of way.

The work will be performed during CATS annual shutdown which will consist over 2 days. Beginning on Friday at approximately 0000 and ending on Sunday evening 1800 hours. The railroad contractor would be required to have sufficient resources to support work throughout the shutdown time period to maximize production during the shutdown window.

CATS MOW – Special Track Work Contractor

CATS is looking for a contractor to surface interlockings to maintain proper track geometry. The vendor must have the machinery to tamp through switches and crossings. Surfacing equipment must have the ability to tamp, lift, level, and line in order to remove existing faults in longitudinal and alignment faults in the track. This will be a slow process as the track geometry is constantly changing as the machine moves through the switch. Typically, it takes around 1 to 1.30 hours to complete a single switch, due to the cabling and condition. CATS will provide a pilot that will help with track access. The vendor is responsible to ensure all machines can safely traverse the alignment, specs, and diagrams for the alignment will be available from CATS if needed. Vendors will need to be RWPP certified that will be given by CATS personnel before the shift begins.
