HVAC REPAIR SERVICES

The Company shall provide repair Services for HVAC systems at all
Charlotte Area Transit System Facilities. Repair services shall be
comprehensive of all tasks necessary to ensure HVAC systems regain
operational status at their established capacity and efficiency. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards shall be followed, including reference to capacity and efficiency ratings. Charlotte Area Transit System has several different types and sizes of HVAC systems located throughout the City of Charlotte.

Main Terminal Air Handling Unit Replacements: AHU-6, AHU-49

The scope of this project is to replace AHU-6 and AHU-49 with new AHUs. New controls, ductwork, associated VAV’s and piping will be installed as part of a complete unit replacement. Each AHU replacement will require a detailed construction phasing process to ensure limited system downtime. Temporary AHUs will be installed as needed during the equipment replacement.

CEP Chiller 5 Expansion

The scope of this project is to connect one 2000-ton chiller (owner furnished and set on equipment pad) and corresponding mechanical equipment to the CEP. The addition of the chiller will also include the installation of one 2000-ton rooftop cooling tower, one chilled water pump, removal of existing filtration systems, new side filtration skids, and one condenser water pump. Existing structure and piping will be extended as needed to accommodate the installation of the listed equipment.

Miranda Road Firehouse 46

A new infill firehouse will be designed and constructed at 4032 Miranda Road to alleviate high call volumes and meet response time standards in the area. The firehouse will reflect the design of Firehouse #45, a 3-bay, 2-story firehouse programmed for approximately 14,600 square feet. The proposed facility will be located at the corner of Beatties Ford Road. Parcel #03741123 is approximately 6.54 acres. This location and site selection meets the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.

River District Firehouse – Phase 1

Scope Statement: CFD plans to build a temporary firehouse for the newly developed River District to manage response volumes in the area. The firehouse will be located on Dixie River Road, near the future Catawba Crossing, on parcel number 14128101.

The Phase 1 facility will be (1) triple wide trailer to house the firemen and a pre-engineered building to serve as an apparatus bay to house the fire engine and emergency equipment.

This location and site selection meets the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.

Firehouse # 46 Infill Station at Miranda Road

Wharton-Smith has been awarded CMAR services and is working on prequalifying subcontractors for the project.

CMPD Animal Care and Control Phase 3 Expansion

The purpose of the CMPD Animal Care and Control, Phase 3 Expansion project is primarily to provide additional kennels for dogs and reduce the increasing rate of euthanasia.  Secondly, to provide additional space for other animals and improve the efficiencies of operations for the facility.  The expansion of the facility will possibly be located at 2700 Toomey Avenue and the parcel is currently 4.67 acres. This is the old location for the Animal Humane Society.  We are currently in the advanced planning phase to acquire a schematic design to confirm the estimated construction cost.

The Construction delivery system will be Progressive Design Build. It is also anticipated that the city will acquire an Owner’s Advisor to assist with procurement and additional services during design and construction.

Charlotte Fire Station #2 – Addition and Renovations

The work consists of the addition and renovation of an existing fire station. The locker and restroom facilities will be renovated and expanded. Accessibility improvements are planned in various areas throughout the building and site.

Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility (ARFF)

This project will construct a new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility (ARFF) at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.  The facility will be constructed in a green field site within the airfield.  The general scope of the project includes site preparation (grading and drainage), building construction, HVAC, plumbing, asphalt parking lot and roadway paving, electrical, and associated utilities.
