Engineering Services for Water and Sanitary Sewer Relocations and Improvements

Charlotte Water (CLTWater) is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from qualified engineering companies (Company or Proposer) to provide the design of relocations and installation of new water and sewer infrastructure within North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Charlotte Department of Transportation, CATS and rail projects for the Miscellaneous Water and Sewer Engineering Services Project (Project).

The following is a general description of the tasks required. This is not intended to be all-inclusive, nor is it guaranteed that all of the below tasks will be utilized. A more defined Scope of Work will be developed during negotiation with the selected companies. CLTWater is responsible for the design of all public water and sanitary sewer utilities located within NCDOT projects. In addition, CLTWater utilizes water/sewer consulting firms to facilitate relocations and improvements in various governmental projects. This includes projects by the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and surrounding towns or municipalities. These Projects may include the design of water and/or sewer mains, relocation and betterment of utilities for various NCDOT improvement projects, future water and/or sanitary sewer crossings within NCDOT right of way, Miscellaneous Water and Sewer Engineering Services projects, service connections, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, and other projects as determined by CLTWater. This Project can also be utilized to address utility conflicts and improvements that may be needed on other projects.

Rea Road Widening (I-485 to Williams Pond Lane)

The purpose of this project is to increase capacity along Rea Road. Capacity will be increased by utilizing the right turn lane drops and median to develop an additional NB and SB through lane along Rea Road between the I-485 ramps and Williams Pond Lane. This project will also result in increased turn lane capacity and intersection improvements at Piper Station Drive and Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Pedestrian safety and mobility will be improved by providing sidewalks on both sides of Rea Road. Other specific improvements include: curb and gutter, accessible ramps, and driveways.

Professional Engineering Services for Minor Storm Drainage Projects

Storm Water Services is soliciting Statement of Qualifications from a qualified engineering companies to provide an engineered solution for various drainage issues in an existing conditions environment where existing drainage systems have failed or flooding conditions have developed and require improvement, replacement, rehabilitation, or repair treatments that meet City practices and standards. This includes, but is not limited to, initial assessment of the existing condition, concept plan development, preparation of design plans, calculations, construction estimates, bidding documents, and other items necessary to resolve reported drainage issues. In addition, participation and attendance may be required for utility coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings, construction warranty observation field meetings at 6 and 11 months intervals, and other meetings necessary to deliver each engineered solution, and address redlined comment.

New Bern Drainage Replacement Project

This project is comprised of the installation of a new culvert crossing across the light rail alignment, located between New Bern Station and Poindexter Rd.

River District Firehouse – Phase 1

Scope Statement: CFD plans to build a temporary firehouse for the newly developed River District to manage response volumes in the area. The firehouse will be located on Dixie River Road, near the future Catawba Crossing, on parcel number 14128101.

The Phase 1 facility will be (1) triple wide trailer to house the firemen and a pre-engineered building to serve as an apparatus bay to house the fire engine and emergency equipment.

This location and site selection meets the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.

Miranda Road Firehouse 46

A new infill firehouse will be designed and constructed at 4032 Miranda Road to alleviate high call volumes and meet response time standards in the area. The firehouse will reflect the design of Firehouse #45, a 3-bay, 2-story firehouse programmed for approximately 14,600 square feet. The proposed facility will be located at the corner of Beatties Ford Road. Parcel #03741123 is approximately 6.54 acres. This location and site selection meets the City of Charlotte Policy for Sustainable City Facilities and Charlotte Fire Department Facilities Master Plan.

University City Blvd Pedestrian Crossings

This Project will install 270 LF of proposed 12′ wide multi-use-path, curb ramps, crosswalks across NC 49, Pedestrian concrete island, milling/resurfacing, storm drainage and pedestrian hybrid beacon with mast arms near the intersection of University Blvd and Mark Twain Road. This project will also install pedestrian crossings, wheelchair ramps, traffic signals milling/resurfacing and storm drainage system at the intersection of University City Blvd and Suther Rd.91347

Sardis Road North Sidewalk

This project will provide new sidewalk along Sardis Road North from Sardis Road to westernmost intersection of Rittenhouse Circle and Sardis Road North. Project length = 0.5 miles.
