This project will consist of Asphalt Patching in Overflow Parking for Lots 1 & 2.:
1. Approximately 7,500 square feet of asphalt patching at 2” depth per NCDOT Standards
2. Approximately 3,200 square feet of asphalt patching at 10.5” depth per standard below.
Compact 6” ABC stone will be included, as needed, estimated at 100 tons.
These areas will be identified/confirmed on site prior to commencement of work. Parking lots will be empty and clear of vehicles during this work.
The project area covers approximately 20 acres and is roughly bounded by Old Plank Road to the north, Larkhaven Road to the east, Westbourne Drive to the west, and Bellhaven Boulevard to the south. The project includes storm drain improvement including culvert replacements, repair of aging and deteriorating storm drains by way of pipe system upgrades, and channel stabilization improvements. The project also includes water line upgrades and sanitary sewer relocations along with road resurfacing and seeding in affected project areas.
This project consists of two culverts in series under Cedarbrook Drive and Denbur Drive. Both culvert crossings consist of triple barrel corrugated metal pipe systems. This is a project that was identified by the asset management team and both culvert crossings are actively failing, and preliminary calculations show that the culverts are also undersized.
The purpose and need for this construction project is to improve the storm drainage infrastructure (i.e. pipe systems and culverts) to reduce flooding and to enhance degraded stream reaches to reduce erosion and improve water quality. This project is under review. Location and project details will be provided after review is complete.
Work performed under this contract will consist of the installation of storm drainage, updated drainage system outfall, curb, gutter, and resurfacing of the cul-de-sac.
