Solid Waste Services provides Charlotte residents with garbage, recycling, yard, and bulk waste collection services. We are committed to partnering with the community for a green and sustainable future by adopting environmentally-friendly solutions to keep Charlotte clean.

Service is the core of our operation, and we are passionate about ensuring residents have quality waste management resources. Businesses can engage with Solid Waste Services through various procurement opportunities, including waste management RFPs and solid waste RFPs. The City of Charlotte’s Solid Waste Services collects items such as household furnishings, appliances, mattresses, box springs, lawn equipment, and similar items too large to be placed in the garbage rollout cart and not eligible for recycling. Yard waste is regularly collected if the materials meet preparation requirements. In an effort to be more sustainable, yard waste is made into mulch and compost for reuse. Solid Waste Services also collects dead animals from streets, public rights-of-way, and residences located within the City.
