The Department of General Services employs almost 500 people and is among the most diverse departments in the City of Charlotte. The department delivers a broad set of services to residents and municipal agencies, aiming to build a better community for everyone in Charlotte.
General Services includes Engineering & Project Management and Asset Management, alongside the Office of Sustainability & Resilience, City Procurement, and Charlotte Business INClusion. This department oversees a range of city services, such as managing city cemeteries, tree management, and real estate services. It also provides fleet management and landscape management, ensuring the maintenance of public facilities and capital infrastructure.

Shamrock Drive Complete Street
Project limits are from Beckwith Place to Flamingo Ave (0.9 miles). Project includes new turn lanes, sidewalks, painted buffered bike lanes, two roundabouts, wheelchair ramps, ped medians, driveways, curb and gutter, storm drainage, street trees, public art and pedestrian crossings.

Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT)− Matheson to Craighead
The Matheson to Craighead segment of the Cross Charlotte Trail will implement a 14-foot shared use path beginning at E 36th Street. The path will continue down Cullman Ave and board walk up into a pedestrian bridge spanning the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks utilizing a prefabricated structure within railroad right of way. The structure will then connect to the existing trail built by Brand Properties within the Kaleido Noda apartment complex.

Light Vehicle Repairs
The City of Charlotte requires qualified light vehicle dealers and general service providers to work in conjunction with the Fleet Management Division to support the city’s fleet comprising various makes, model years. The services for this requirement include but are not limited to repair, replacement, maintenance, diagnostic, warranty repair and representation related services for vehicles. The city will be soliciting bids to award a vendor a contract to provide these services.

Central Kilborne Norland Intersection & Street Upgrade
Project limits are from just south of Evergreen Cemetery Dr to about 400’ south of Central Ave at Kilborne Dr on Norland Rd (0.43 miles). The project includes a shared-use path on one side of the street, storm drainage, water line work, and 2 Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs).

RFQ: Design-Builder – CMPD Helicopter Hangar Relocation
Relocation of existing CMPD Helicopter Hangar to an off-site location alongside Billy Graham Parkway will be performed via Alternative Delivery Method, specifically Design-Build (D/B). A D/B team will be solicited to implement the project scope.

Mallard Creek Road Shared-Use Path (Governor Hunt to Driwood)
This project will construct a shared-use path along the east side of Mallard Creek Road from Governor Hunt Road to Driwood Court. Specific improvements will also include construction of a plant strip, curb and cutter, accessible ramps, driveways, and potential storm drainage improvements. The purpose of this project is to improve pedestrian safety, mobility, and connectivity along Mallard Creek Road. Project Length = 0.4 miles.

WT Harris SUP (JW Clay to N Tryon)
A 12’ wide shared-use path will be installed along WT Harris Blvd, from JW Clay Blvd to N Tryon St. This includes pedestrian ramps, storm drain services, and new pavement markings in addition to the shared-use path. Project Length = 0.33 miles.

Old Concord Road Shared-Use Path (Meadow Vista to Arlyn Cir)
This project will construct a shared-use path along the west side of Old Concord Road from Meadow Vista Road to Arlyn Circle. Construction of driveway improvements and wheelchair ramps are included in this scope. The construction of the shared-use path will help to improve safety and walking conditions for citizens along this minor thoroughfare. This project will also connect several miles of pedestrian walkways within this area. Old Concord Road Shared-Use Path is considered a high priority project based on CDOT’s sidewalk Priority list and was requested by the residents and business owners in the area. Improvements for Charlotte Water are also included in the project scope. Project Length= .85 miles.

Kuykendall Road Improvements
This project will connect sidewalk along Kuykendall Road from
Thorn Blade Drive to McKee Road, and add a right-turn lane from
Kuykendall Road on to McKee Road in order to to increase
pedestrian safety and help alleviate traffic congestion at the
intersection. Project will also fill in small sidewalk gap on the south
side of McKee Rd at Kuykendall Rd and add pedestrian signals with
crosswalk at this intersection. Project length = approximately 0.75
miles.

Heavy Duty Truck Cab-Chassis Repair Services
The City of Charlotte requires a qualified heavy equipment dealer and general service provider to work in conjunction with the Fleet Management Division to support the city’s fleet comprising various makes, model years and commercial truck classifications. The services for this requirement include but are not limited to repair, replacement, maintenance, diagnostic, warranty repair and representation related services for heavy trucks with classifications ranging from 6-8.

Fleet Towing Services
The city’s Fleet Management division provides maintenance services for vehicles and special equipment for city departments and Mecklenburg County. Towing services are needed to transport and recover disabled vehicles and special equipment, provide support to the city as needed during inclement weather, and assist during special events. Services will be provided for various types of vehicles and equipment, including, but not limited to: sedans, SUVs, medium – and heavy-duty trucks, fire apparatus, police cars, and construction equipment.
An extension of McCullough Drive, from it’s current terminus east
of southeast of North Tryon Street, to the disconnected terminus
southwest of W.T. Harris Blvd. It is already designed and real
estate acquired. This is necessary for splitting this project apart
from the McCullough Streetscape Project. Length = 0.272 miles
